![]() Spending twice as long to deliver a spell is not even remotely worth the opportunity to add on unarmed strike or natural weapon damage. It is unclear, then, whether or not you can hold non-spell charges at all, and it is unclear whether or not you can deliver them through unarmed strikes. The other issue is that everything about holding charges is awkwardly part of the “touch spells in combat” section of the rules, which means it says nothing about non-spell touch attacks. Note that this implies that you cannot do this for the original touch attack made as a free action as part of casting the spell: you have to cast the spell, miss or not use the free touch attack, and hold the charge so that you can use an unarmed strike or natural weapon next round. If the attack misses, you are still holding the charge. If the attack hits, you deal normal damage for your unarmed attack or natural weapon and the spell discharges. ![]() If your unarmed attack or natural weapon attack normally doesn’t provoke attacks of opportunity, neither does this attack. In this case, you aren’t considered armed and you provoke attacks of opportunity as normal for the attack. On the other hand, unarmed strikes and natural weapons do have the property of being capable of delivering touch effects when you are holding the charge see touch spells in combat:Īlternatively, you may make a normal unarmed attack (or an attack with a natural weapon) while holding a charge. Magic touch attacks are neither unarmed strikes nor natural weapons. ![]() Unarmed strikes and natural weapons are specific, particular weapon attacks, not a catch-all term for all attacks made without weapons. ![]()
